magmabooks Special Exhibition: Commemorative Exhibition for the Release of the Picture Book 'Papwa-kun'

A special exhibition will be held at magmabooks in Toranomon, Tokyo, to coincide with the release of the picture book 'Papuwa-kun' (author: Ami Shibata), which will be released by Jitsugyo no Nihonsha Co., Ltd. on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

In the 1990s, 'Nangoku Shonen Papwa-kun' (Square Enix) captivated children across Japan, with a total circulation of 8 million copies. That unforgettable excitement has been transformed into a new picture book 35 years after the serialization began.

In recent years, Ami Shibata has been actively working as a painter, expanding her range of expression. This work is a masterpiece that retains that original worldview while crafting the story in a gentler and more attentive way to modern hearts.

In addition to selling picture books, this event will feature exhibitions where you can enjoy the worlds of the works and original goods available only here. Additionally, this special exhibition is scheduled to begin at Toranomon and tour nationwide. At each venue, there are also plans to hold autograph sessions by Ami Shibata, so that not only fans from that time but also children encountering "Papwa-kun" for the first time can enjoy the event across generations.
