Toraya Akasaka Gallery Special Exhibition: "Edo Woodblock Print and Ukiyo-e Exhibition"

At Toraya Akasaka Gallery, located on the basement first floor of the wagashi brand "Toraya Akasaka Store," an exhibition themed around woodblock prints will be held from Wednesday, June 10, 2026 to Wednesday, September 23, 2026 (holiday).

Ukiyo-e, one of Japan's representative arts, is a woodblock print in which the artist's sketches are completed by carvers and printers. This technique has been preserved to this day, and in 2007, it was designated as a national traditional craft under the name 'Edo woodblock prints.' In this exhibition, you can see masterpieces of ukiyo-e created by contemporary Edo woodblock print carvers and printers. In particular, Harunobu Suzuki's "Night Plum" shares a common theme with Toraya's signature confectionery "Night Plum," and since it uses Nagao Hanga Shōban for bookmarks and other items, it is a work with a deep connection.
Additionally, a sample book called 'Review-shū,' a paper sample book used when gifting Japanese sweets, will also be on display.
