1. Who We Are
Akira Online Japanese School TOKYO is an online Japanese language school specializing in private lessons for serious adult learners.
Since 2019, we have supported learners around the world from our base in the Azabu-Roppongi area of Minato City, Tokyo.
Our goal is not simply to teach Japanese, but to help each learner achieve visible, long-term progress in practical communication, business Japanese, travel Japanese, and JLPT preparation.

2. Our Approach
Effective Japanese learning starts with the right strategy.
At Akira, we create a Personalized Strategic Curriculum based on each learner's goals, Japanese level, learning history, and challenges.
Our Science-Based Learning Approach draws on frameworks from Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and cognitive psychology, including training based on the mechanisms of listening and speaking.
We also conduct regular Progress Assessments using external tests such as the JSST Japanese Speaking Test and JLPT Online Half-Mock Test. The results help us continuously refine each learner's Strategic Curriculum and study methods.
All lessons are taught by English-speaking Nationally Registered Japanese Language Teachers who have completed Akira's rigorous selection and training process.

3. Start with a Consultation & Level Check
Your learning journey begins with a free Consultation & Level Check (30 minutes), followed by two free private trial lessons (50 minutes each).
We assess your goals, current level, and learning challenges, introduce you to Akira's learning approach, and create your Personalized Strategic Curriculum.
Before starting regular lessons, you'll have a clear understanding of where you are, where you're going, and how you'll get there.

4. Message from the Founder & CEO
“Akira” means “bright” or “light” in Japanese.
I chose this name with the hope that learning Japanese would help people communicate more deeply with others and enrich their lives in Japan.
Every learner has different goals, abilities, and time available for study. That's why we believe Japanese education should begin with understanding the individual and designing the right learning strategy.
Our mission is to help serious learners make effective, efficient, and measurable progress in Japanese.
Akira FUJISAKI
Founder & CEO / Certified Japanese Teacher
Born in Fukuoka in 1982. Graduated from the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Education, and built his career primarily in digital marketing.
After discovering Japanese language education in 2011, he passed the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test in 2013 and again in 2023. He founded Akira Online Japanese School TOKYO in 2019.
His favorite Japanese word is go-en (ご縁) — the meaningful connections that bring people together.
