Minato City Cultural Properties Seminar 3rd "Culture"

Reliving Edo through Minato Ward's Cultural Properties ~ Exploring the spirit and mechanism that has supported 260 years of peace Using the cultural assets that live in Edo as clues, we will decipher the spirit and mechanism of Edo through five themes.

The theme of the third session was "culture" From the "peace" of Tokugawa and the "order" of Confucianism, a culture of "play and learning" was born for the townspeople.
Especially in Edo, the sophisticated behavior and costume of the festival were respected by Edo people who valued "chic" and "connoisseury", and kabuki, ukiyo-e, and puppet joruri also flourished.

In response to the increase in economic activity due to the rise of the townspeople, we will decipher the development from the upper Genroku culture to the Kasei culture of Edo.
