Suntory Museum of Art 'Feast for the Eyes: Tableware'

9-7-4 Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo Midtown Galleria 3rd Floor, Suntory Museum of Art

At the Suntory Museum of Art, the "Feast for the Eyes: Tableware" event will be held from Wednesday, July 8 to Sunday, August 30, 2026. This exhibition features ceramic tableware from the early modern period, mainly from the Momoyama to Edo periods, as part of our core philosophy of enjoying the museum's core philosophy of 'beauty in everyday life.' About 400 years ago, it seems that in Japan, it was established in hospitality settings to seek out and skillfully use and enjoy ceramic tableware of various origins, shapes, patterns, and uses. Elegant large plates, elegant pots, and distinctive serving ....... When you pay attention to the design of such ceramic tableware, you notice that there are quite a few messages of good fortune, a sense of season, or a desire to serve with unusual dishes. Tableware was probably a "feast for the eyes" that brought even deeper joy to guests, combined with delicious food. The ceramic tableware favored by the Japanese was not limited to domestic products but also reached overseas countries such as China, reflecting the strong Japanese interest in tableware. This is a valuable opportunity to occasionally experience the hospitality of the time when such tableware was used, and to enjoy the shape of each piece of tableware. MoN Takanawa Opening Commemorative Special Exhibition "Round and Round Exhibition: The Story of Humanity Evolving"

Minato-ku Mita 3-16-1 MoN Takanawa

On Saturday, March 28, 2026, "MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives" (hereinafter referred to as "MoN Takanawa)" will be opened at TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY (operated by the JR East Foundation for Cultural Creation). As a place to connect cultures 100 years into the future, the opening of this facility, which aims to create diverse narratives from the experiences of each visitor, will be marked by the special exhibition "The Round and Round Exhibition: The Story of Evolving Humanity". The keyword that symbolizes the activities that MoN Takanawa will create in the future is "round and round". New cultures are born as different fields mix with people, between people, between the past and the future. The movement overlaps in the shape of a spiral that goes round and round. This spiral is the very idea of this facility, which is also reflected in the architecture and logo of MoN Takanawa. The special exhibition "Guruguru Exhibition" to commemorate the opening of the museum is the first exhibition to deliver this idea as an experience. With the theme of "Guruguru", a universal form that has supported the evolution of mankind, we will develop a variety of "Guruguru" (circles, repetitions, and spirals) that abound in the world, such as the cycle of nature, the renewal of cities, and the circulation of human bodies and thoughts. It is an intellectual entertainment where you can explore the diverse worlds such as art, society, technology, and traditional culture with an audio guide, and encounter new ways of seeing the world and living in the world. This exhibition is the starting point of MoN Takanawa's activities and a theme exhibition that symbolizes the future of MoN Takanawa. ■ Event Overview ・Dates: March 28, 2026 (Sat) ~ September 23, 2026 (Wed) ・Time: 10:00~19:00 (10:00~21:00 on Fridays and Saturdays) ・Venue: MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives Box1500 Organizer and Producer: MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives Sponsor: JR East Tourism & Sales Co., Ltd. The National Art Center, Tokyo "100 Years of Birth: Hidee Mori, Vital Type"

7-22-2 Roppongi, Minato-ku The National Art Center, Tokyo Special Exhibition Room 1E

The National Art Center, Tokyo will hold the first retrospective exhibition after the death of Eie Hanae Morimori, who became the first Asian to become a full member of Paris Haute Couture and a leading figure in Japan's fashion, in the spring of 2026, marking the 100th anniversary of her birth. Starting her career in the 1950s, Mori initially rose to prominence through the production of film costumes. In Japan during the period of high economic growth after the war, the appearance of having a family and accomplishing great social work as a designer has attracted attention as a pioneer of a new image of women. In such a situation, Mori proposed a new character image called "Vital Type" in the magazine "Soen" in 1961. His cheerful and unwilling appearance overlapped with Mori's way of life after that. Since his debut in the New York Collection in 1965, he has continued to work not only in Japan but also around the world until his later years. Through approximately 400 items, including haute couture dresses, materials, and works that will be exhibited for the first time, this exhibition reveals the full picture of forest manufacturing. It will be a unique opportunity to not only express yourself as a designer, but also to get closer to the fundamentals of life and creation. 【Event Overview】 Dates: April 15, 2026 (Wed) ~ July 6, 2026 (Mon) Closed: Every Tuesday *Open on Tuesday, May 5 Hours: 10:00~18:00 until 20:00 every Friday and Saturday *Admission is until 30 minutes before closing.
